DQ loves men’s style and fashion, so here you will find some succinct tips on what Spring/Summer 16 for men is all about, with some easy to follow Do’s and Dont's, even if you are not a Fashionista! Please remember that the below are just some tips on this season's trends and not a style guide.
Big & Baggy
British designer Margaret Howell ( @margarethowell ) shows true British style in her SS16 Men’s collection, with sophisticated cuts and effortless male elegance.
This trend brings the 90’s baggy shirts and outwear in army green tones. It transforms urban sports looks into elegant and long bomber jackets. Replace your skinny jeans for wide leg trousers and shorts. Some Asian influences with some floral patterns and pyjama-like outfits for the more audacious.
DO wear denim shorts with a baggy shirt.
DON’T mix army green tones with florals or influences from the East. Keep it simple.
Whiteout
Nude and pastel colours in suits and casual wear. Check Todd Snyder ( @ToddSnyderNY ) minimalistic lines and metallic colour scheme looks for some inspiration.
DO wear light toned tailoring.
DON’T wear contrasting colours this Spring / Summer. Keep it monotone.
Prints & Patterns
If you like prints and patterned materials, then you will have plenty of choice this season. Alexander McQueen ( @WorldMcQueen ) and House of Holland ( @HouseOfHolland ) did it brilliantly. You can opt for a more urban and sporty look in your prints or go floral and colourful.
DO wear printed, even long, bomber jackets with plane colour trousers.
DON’T forget your accessories!
Tailoring
DQ Contour loves a great tailored suit. This season there is even more choice. You can opt for nude minimalistic lines or truly bright suits. For a heritage tailoring look check Margaret Howell and Hardy Amies ( @hardyamieslndn ).
DO wear linen, wet look materials, reds and blues.
DON’T wear trousers with too long leg length. Show off your classy or funky socks and ankles.
Denim and Overhauls
They do not necessarily have to come together, but why not. Overhauls and the manly boiler look are on trend and you can have two in one if you pick a denim overhaul like those seen on ASOS ( @ASOS ) or for a more sophisticated look, check Topman ( @Topman ).
You can opt for as classic as extravagant choice of jeans as you like. Jeans are timeless pieces in your wardrobe, so chose wisely.
DO wear double denim. Looks timeless, stylish and interesting. You have got a story to tell.
DON’T wear overhauls unless you can pull it off.
Androgyny
Naturally, this is one that could only come from one of the greatest houses of fashion, Gucci ( @gucci ). Inspired by bohemian looks and hippies lifestyles, this trend reminds us of the 70s and of Bowie.
DO wear separate pieces if you prefer a more understated look.
DON’T be afraid of adding colour, prints and patterns, florals and fun.
