"You want to be taken seriously. Stop dressing like a little girl": 1960’s Manhattan Style

This time DQ Contour is hosting a friend's article, by softly spoken M Iseli. I hope you enjoy your reading:-
"I am late. As usual I am catching up on TV programmes everyone has already seen, discussed, done & dusted with, and moved on from - more than 12 months ago.
I am indulging in a marathon of Mad Men episodes every chance I get, and am mesmerised not only by the constant heavy liquor swigging, cancer stick inhaling glamour posse of sophisticated advertisement masterminds but by the fashion du jour. The elegant style of 1960’s Manhattan. The exquisite razor sharp tailoring. The sleek suits not lacking any minute detail; waistcoat, pocket handkerchief folded into intricate designs. The shiny, polished footwear. The figure hugging skirts & silk blouses with bows. The asset enhancing dresses without the slightest hint of vulgarity. Proper, but not prim. The experimental fabrics. Are you swooning with me?
This sort of attire demands attention and respect. It says “I know what I am about….what I am capable of”. An image representing achievement, prestige and success.
As the saying goes; “Clothes make the man”.
Having a look around the shops I am delighted that apparently I am not alone in my quest to bring back a glimpse of this by-gone era. In my wardrobe there is already a stack of splendid pencil skirts that make me look fabulous on any occasion but what I am particularly interested in are the “swaying” skirts.
My eye has caught on three style true skirts (accentuating the waist, fanning out in textile waves or pleats) with a modern twist to it (bright orange colour, transparent fabric, daring patterns). Old skool and trendily modern simultaneously; what a marvellous deal! Simply swell.
It is my aim to somewhat adventurously combine these skirts with a crop top or perhaps a long-sleeved, meshed-cleavage shirt for a suggestion of 2016. Add a belt for extra waist definition. Can’t wait to go out to play! If you feel the same by now but are a little hesitant, DQ Contour are more than happy to assist you, enhancing your wardrobe with that chic allure exuding the charms of a well-groomed, refined individual. Male and female, etc.
I’m a little partial myself though, being a woman, I get terribly excited about this time travelling venture…thinking of the cute kitten heels and the comfort they will provide not letting-up on the classiness one little bit. Especially because I can still feel my calf muscles dimly aching from an all-nighter dancing escapade in triple the heel height…
Another positive is that this type of apparel totally works for all types of figures. Enter office manager Joanie #MadMen…In mine, and no doubt in many a person’s opinion, this woman is the epitome of sexy. The outfits, hairstyles, make-up – one word: WOW!
It’s my lucky day; I say bring on the Krispy Kreme!!
